Happy Sunday everyone! Oh, yes it's been a minute since a blog post has been uploaded on here...I think the last time there was snow on the ground! ;) Summer has passed, school has started and I think I saw a leaf fall yesterday. I did in fact buy a pumpkin scented candle today though, and posted it on my Snapchat story to make it official. Anywaysss I am so ready for this year, but not just any year...my senior year!
Todays post is going to be veering away from a fashion standpoint to more of a reflection point. I'm only 17 and know little to nothing about the real world, but what I do know or try to live by everyday will be listed below. Don't be afraid to live and laugh people!
#1: Be yourself. Woah. Haven't heard that one before. It's cheesy because it's said a lot. It wouldn't be said a lot if it wasn't true. Each year as I get older I notice that more often than not the things you're anxiously worried about are probably haunting tons of the people you're surrounded with. In that case you may as well just be you. And laugh at yourself too. We're all here for a reason, and the only way to know what your reason is, is to go out and just do YOU. Do not let those irrelevant things define you. When your put in a situation that makes you sad/confused/frustrated/etc. walk through the best you can. You'll get up from your falls, you'll overcome your bad days, but how you overcome them is what defines you. So just be you. Smile and live my friends.
#2: Live. Jeez that's a new one too. This one is really important to me because I think there's a lot of times when something happens and all you can think is, "why me?" or "of course that would happen." I can't tell you how many times my parents have told me to stop being so negative. I guess they're right. Just this once you win Mom & Dad. But really, we cannot spend our time wondering why some of these things don't go our way. What we can do is learn from them. The lessons pile up and the character builds. If you're just living your life to the best way you know possible, you'll grow to be content and enjoy life's #views from all over.
#3: There is literally not a single point to being mean. In school I just try to smile and wave ("Smile and wave boys." -The Penguins of Madagascar). In my 17 years of life there's always been the "mean girls" (lolz the jealous girls), the insecure girls, the girls that seem lost all the time and then the ones that are just there for the ride. We're all so different. We're all dreaming, we're all loving, we're all learning, heck until a couple years from now we're all lost. We're all in this together, you may as well smile and make someone else's day just a little bit better. We all know that person that's just always nice, it's a full breath of fresh air. They've got a great rep going for themselves, they're making you feel better and untimely they're making this world we live in a better place. Just be nice. You will truly start to feel better about yourself and the fun will pile.
#4: Look from the outside in. One of my very favorite things in this world is watching something amazing happen and being able to see the faces of the people it's impacting. I will never forget my freshman year, Homecoming proposals were new to us and I was standing at my locker unpacking. The hallway cleared to people on opposite sides and the girl that was getting asked walked into a row leading down to the boy that was asking her with flowers. Her face was so shocked and so real. Everyone in that hallway was in sync at that very moment. Just watching the girl's face, and the boy that was asking's face fill with excitement was incredible and made me smile. Friday night my school won our Varsity football game in the last few minutes. The energy was insane. When we won we all ran onto the field and beamed with pure joy. Everyone was so thrilled and just so proud. Looking around and taking it all in was something I'll never forget. When you step back and take it all in you can see the emotion in people and the thrills of this world. You also become more content as a person.
I encourage you guys to live, love and just have a ball. Laugh a lot. Believe in yourselves! It's what keeps me going everyday.
Have a great school year guys!
